Estate Planning

Every estate planning client has different needs, which is why Odom Law individually customizes each estate plan from the ground up, regardless of whether it is a simple will or a sophisticated trust arrangement designed to minimize federal wealth transfer taxes. Our number one goal is to generate the right fit for each client. For example, we recognize that a lifetime (revocable) trust may not be suitable for every client, even if they have sufficient probate assets; therefore, we believe it is fundamental to the planning process to explain both options in detail to enable the client to make an informed decision.

All estate plans that we prepare include at no additional cost the following documents: (1) Healthcare Power of Attorney; (2) Durable Power of Attorney; and (3) Living Will. Some of the core estate planning documents that we prepare include, but are not limited to:

Odom Law also can assist clients with planning for beneficiaries with special needs.  Many individuals with special needs receive government benefits, such as Supplemental Security Income and Medicaid.  If an individual receiving these goverment benefits inherits property, then he or she may become disqualified from receiving those benefits in the future until the inheritance is fully exhausted.  A properly drafted Special Needs Trust can protect these benefits and allow the special needs beneficiary to have additional resources for extras are that not covered by the government benefits.
